The Relationship Edge

Since it's the weekend and many of you are spending time with your significant others, I wanted to post this week's infographic as a reminder that our EQ affects our relationships. Not only our intimate relationships but our relationships with those close to us.

Learning how to recognize our emotions, manage them, and express them in a meaningful way affects how well our relationships flourish. Express your feelings in a kind and loving manner. Your relationship deserves kindness and of course love. Moreover, validating other's feelings and putting yourself in their shoes goes a long way. People want to be heard, understood, and validated. Most people miss these steps but it will change your relationships for the better.

Lastly, learn to notice your MOOD. Your mood changes how you respond and feel about each other. Many times things that happen outside of our relationships affect the way we act in our relationships. Just this week I was not in a good mood due to watching a disturbing documentary, and I took it out on another person. Something so simple, but I always strive to be kind, and at that moment I wasn't. I recognized it, and I apologized. Remember we all are not perfect. If we want people to accept our flaws, then we need to accept theirs.

Your relationships are a guide to helping your create awareness about yourself. So have fun with it, take the edge off, and don't take each other too seriously! Happy Saturday!
