See the Beauty in Each Day

If we think something good needs to happen to have a great day, then we’re going to be waiting for a long time. The is because we have trained ourselves to think that something big needs to happen for it to be a good day. Now isn’t it obvious why a lot of us are miserable?

We need to start observing our days for the little things that are right in life.  I know I harp on this, but this is one of the keys to creating happiness. When we wait for grand things to happen in life, we become impatient, we become anxious, and we become unfulfilled. Then once something big occurs, the feeling is fleeting and we wait for the next major thing to happen in life. That means that most of our time will be spent wishing and hoping for things to change which creates anxiety and sadness.

However, when we notice those tiny things that happen within a day like the sun rising, when your song comes on the radio, eating delicious food, completing an errand, someone smiling at you, you smiling at someone, etc., then you’re training yourself to find goodness. When you see good things, you create a good day, and thus you create your happiness. You need to find these things first because once you feel better about your days, you’ll be more motivated to produce changes in your life.

I trained myself to notice these little things, and now I have many days that feel like the best day ever. It’s not because something monumental happened. It’s because a bunch of small things happened. When you notice many little things, they add up and feel like something wonderful happened. That’s how you make each day special.

Look for the good. It’s right in front of you.
