Use Your Ability to Empower Your Work Conversations

Don’t we want to go to people to discuss our problems at work? Well yes, but we can make the conversations even better when we discuss solutions. Plus, it’s going to get you far in your career and as an entrepreneur.

I am glad I learned this lesson early on in my career. I will never forget it. It was 18 years ago, and I was in my boss's office telling him about a problem. I don’t remember what the problem was, but I remember him telling me “Arathi, come to me with a solution.” That changed me. From then on I always came with solutions. It helped me in my career because I was looking for solutions all the time instead of complaining and that makes you a valuable employee. It’s what made me move fast in my career. I kept this attitude as an entrepreneur. It’s the only way you will be successful as an entrepreneur. You have to be solution-oriented, or you'll never get anywhere because there’s always a problem that needs to be solved.

Being solution-oriented in work and life is the way to be. When you focus on the solution, you're not stuck worrying about the problem. It helps you move forward and causes less stress.
